She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Marketing from Fordham University. Michelle works with individuals, adolescents, couples, and families virtually and in person in the state of New York. She works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, communication issues, relationship and intimacy issues, intergenerational trauma, low self-esteem and those struggling with self-identity.

Michelle Bengzon aims to provide clients a comfortable, compassionate, and safe therapeutic environment to express their struggles and concerns. She highlights the importance to take a pause, slow down, and notice the constraints in navigating through anger, sadness, shame, and resentment to name a few. Michelle is warm, curious, uses humor in sessions, and welcomes complexity to provide clients clarity in their therapeutic journey.

Michelle’s therapy approach is collaborative. She focuses on understanding the impact of the past on the present and challenges her clients on the path towards living an authentic life. She believes the importance of the relationship between the therapist and the client, and focuses on building that connection in order to best support the growth and change a client wishes to see.

Moving from the Philippines, Michelle understands the difficulty of having both Western and Eastern culture and values that may differ from traditional family dynamics. She hopes to guide clients in acknowledging and working with the different parts of themselves, improve systemic relationships patterns, gain perspective & understand theirs and others’ pains and triggers with the necessary tools. She aspires to assist clients towards connection, compassion, and curiosity within themselves for more opportunities of intimacy and connection with others.

Michelle is fluent in both English and Tagalog (Filipino). She enjoys taking dance classes around New York City, watching Broadway plays, 60s-early 2000s music, fitness, cooking & exploring different kinds of food in New York City.
